LIMINAL ARCHITECTURE | wins top honours for public architecture

Liminal Architecture receives the highest honours in this years Tasmanian Architecture Awards for Ogilvie High School Student Learning Centre, in Hobart on Saturday 18 June, 2011.
Thirty design projects were in the running for the 2011 Alan C Walker Award for Public Architecture at a ceremony in Hobart on Saturday 18 June. The jury's comments on the award: "This is the work of creative architects who have understood the delicacy of intervention in a mature and functioning facility with layers of building and educational history." The jury praised the "sensitive and bold" work for "delivering new life and creating a centre for the school, while symbolising contemporary teaching and learning."
Peter Poulet, The Tasmanian State Architect says the jury was looking for buildings that understood how people like to live. "If you think of a building you walk through it, you look out of it, you touch it, you feel it, you hear it as you step around it."
