Exciting times ahead as the specialty joinery for one of our fitouts has commenced fabrication – a collaboration with furniture designer-maker Scott Van Tuil. You can’t see it yet, but this giant jigsaw puzzle will soon become a joinery spine housing a kitchenette and screening!
Kicking off tonight with the Opening Exhibition at the Design Centre Tasmania in Launceston, the sold out Women in Design Colloquium will explore, dissect and question the role of design not only as a profession but as an inseparable part of our community.
We're looking forward to seeing Liminal's Peta Heffernan sharing the stage with fantastic talent for the 2016 Women in Design Colloquium hosted by Design Tasmania.
The green light outcome in response to the Development Application for the Creative Industries and Performing Arts Development is a welcomed milestone in the project’s progression. We’re delighted that it is being hailed as a ‘world class performing arts centre iconic for both the University and Hobart.’ Sentiments further supported by Alderman Jeff Briscoe’s comments, ‘This is probably one of the most important buildings that will go up in Hobart in the lifetime of this council.’
Liminal Graphics received the Design Best of Show for kunanyi / Mount Wellington Pinnacle Observation Shelter Tasmania Advertising & Design Awards (TADA) held in Hobart on 16 March. We also received 6 prizes and 2 finalist in the categories of Art Catalogue, Illustration, Environmental Graphics, Packaging and Print graphics.
We are thrilled to be published in one of our favourite journals - Monocle. The latest is a special issue focusing on what makes Australia tick and why it’s on the way up.
Monocle's summary of the issue is here.
At Liminal Studio we are looking for an architect with at least 5 years' experience who shares our values.
And our ambition.
OK so maybe this is not completely new news, but it’s still relatively new nonetheless and it’s about time we shared it. Bec joined our busy and energetic studio mid 2015 amidst a whirlwind of creative projects from NYC where she was flitting freely between designing highly specialised facades and sculpture classes.
As the archaeological excavation wraps up for 2015, this week’s unveiling has revealed a cesspit at the rear of the Hedberg Garage, a myriad of bottle artefacts (c.1820s), mostly ginger beer bottles and the structural piles for the side walls to the Hedberg Garage (c.1920s). We are very much looking forward to further findings in the final stages of the archaeology occurring in early 2016.
