LIMINAL STUDIO | Action on Climate Change
Posted 26 July 2019
Continuing our mission to make a positive difference, Liminal stands in solidarity with other global leaders of the architectural profession as one of the 30 founding signatories to Architects Declare Australia proclaiming a climate and biodiversity emergency. Along with other eminent practices, we are committed to take positive action to deal with the twin crises of climate breakdown and biodiversity loss as the most serious issue of our time.
Architects Declare was first launched in the UK on 19 May, 2019. Two weeks after the launch of Architects Declare in the UK, the American Institute of Architects members voted for a Resolution for Urgent and Sustained Climate Action. One month later, RIBA declared an Environment and Climate Emergency.
As a signatory to the declaration we commit to raising awareness of the climate and biodiversity emergencies and the urgent need for action among clients and supply chains. We advocate for faster change in the industry towards regenerative design practices and a higher Governmental funding priority to support this.
As building and construction accounts for nearly 40% of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions, we encourage architects to join the declaration.
The other Australian founding signatories are: ARM Architecture, Alec Tzannes, Bates Smart, Breathe Architecture, Brit Andresen, BVN, Circa Morris-Nunn, Clare Design, Design 5, DWP Design Worldwide Partnership, FJMT, The Fulcrum Agency, Glenn Murcutt, Greenaway Architects, Gregory Burgess Architects, Hassell, Jackson Clements Burrows, John Wardle Architects, Ken Maher, Kerstin Thompson Architects, Koning Eizenberg Architecture, Partners Hill, Peter Stutchbury, Rick Leplastrier, Six Degrees, Taylor and Hinds Architects, TKD Architects, Troppo, and Woods Bagot.
