LIMINAL SPACES | A new look for the TSO
Posted 18 December 2013
We have just completed the new Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s Box Office. The design evolved from the musical inspiration and craft of the TSO.
The counter has been formed with laminated offcuts of Tasmanian timber that would otherwise be used for wood chips. Forestry Tasmania has engineered a timber product called Hardlam that salvages hardwood timber to produce the timber board. Working with Kingston Joinery we have responded to the inherent qualities of the laminated timber to design and craft a form that abstracts references to the refined musical instruments mastered by the TSO.
The construction team led by Cordwell Lane have turned the space around in a week!
